Bird and I have been increasingly dissatisfied with the boys' attitudes and behaviors around the house so we called our first ever house meeting. Justin has been quite insolent with Bird when with his friends and both boys have been picking meaningless fights with one another that often escalate to hitting and crying.
So we gathered together in the hallway where we have a chalk wall and came up with the following house rules:
1. Be respectful at all times
2. Friend & Family time comes first
3. Help keep the house clean together
We decided to have these house meetings each week and made it understood that anyone could call a house meeting at any reasonable time. The first 30 minutes went extremely well and were spent preparing and eating lunch. Then Sam wanted to call a house meeting! He had come up with a new idea for a rule involving turning off the lights when you leave the room. So we talked and added this rule:
